first thing : i remember some article about schizophrenia saying that it affects metaphorical thinking.
I am not sure how that applies to you guys, but i still understand it, i barely used it since i was a kid.
Can you still understand metaphors ?

The metaphor is comparing her voice to music…for his ears. Unless of course it was her singing voice. Then it’d be a straight forward non metaphor.
“Her lovely singing voice was great music, to his ears”

i only see the word music being the word which gives the sentence the mataphor status
it’s hard to explain what i mean by that. this metaphoric thinking makes me feel like i am in overdrive.

I am slow at catching metaphors and sometimes even jokes.
I’m an English major, metaphors are our bread and butter.

Stuff like that. I don’t understand how the illness could make metaphors harder to understand, but maybe that’s because I was schooled in metaphor for several years.

Yeah I think it qualifies. Unless you add the word “like,” then it becomes a simile
