Thoughts? Instead of schizophrenia, we now have integration disorder or something along the spectrum of psychotic disorders.
To me, this is pretty close to a cure for a disease that has as a symptom the idea that the person doesn’t think that they suffer from or have the disease. The change is now you can’t suffer from something that no longer exists…
I still think psychiatry and psychiatrists can still “shrink” individuals and weigh heavily on them with labels, diagnosis, involuntary commitment and powerful antipsychotic medications… but some psychiatrists can be therapeutic and empowering; I’m looking forward to treating my referential thinking, my delusions of grandeur, and my negative symptoms of amotivation perhaps anhedonia on the spectrum of psychotic disorders or integration disorder…
