I haven’t read the article because I’m glad I was informed of this when I was younger.
A lot of students in the U.K. have no idea how strange the metrics for these rankings are and they get fooled by it. Even parents. If anything. More so the parents than the students.
It’s so bizarre. There’s elements of truth to them, but you have to have a good sense of how the metrics work - by which point you’ll notice that most of it is very very arbitrary - especially for the average undergrad.
