The Absurdity of the Ticket to Work Program

When they tell you that you can work and keep your benefits on Ticket to Work it is only true in the short term. You are in fact expected to progress in work and school until you no longer qualify for SSDi, or SSI. If you don’t you no longer quality for the Ticket to Work program. That’s why many disabled and schizophrenic people with continuing high medical expenses are not on it.

Yup. You get punished for trying.

I went through this and fortunately for me became suspicious enough before I got roped in. Not to mention my vocational rehabilitation program felt silly, and didn’t fill me with hope that it would lead to a sufficient paying occupation.

I wanted to do it, and had phone interviews,

but the final decision came down

that I didn’t qualify. I wanted to work too.
