The 15% that kill themselves, are the rest faking?

I sincerely doubt that many people diagnosed are faking it. I mean the medications would put normal people in what would look like a coma. If someone were to take all of my meds, they would fall asleep after taking the first pill I pop on my bedside table, they wouldnt even make it to the other eight or whatever pills I am taking a day under doctor’s orders.

Disability checks are not a good living, from what I have heard they are not very significant income here in the U.S. Now in the socialist nations in Scandinavia, they might be good money, I would imagine. But no, here in the U.S. it is simply not logical for someone to just be lazy and pretend to have this illness- it would take too much effort, and lazy people wouldnt do that.

As for not committing suicide, I think it depends on the severity of the illness, comorbid problems like substance abuse or depression, either one would not be good in addition to schizophrenia, but also personality traits.

Yes, it is in the lower realm of pay for all medical professions, but $170,000 a year is a very good income - way more than average people make…for instance people I’ve known usually say 40,000 a year is good.
I would say the CEOs of the multi billion $ pharmaceutical industry have more influence in this, especially since they make their money by providing ongoing treatments with medicines that cost a ton…

Dont know if this is just venting or are you tryn to make a point. Most that are’ faking ’ are generally limited by some disability. If someone could generally want to work then they would

I wish I could say I was faking but unfortunately that ain’t the case

It depends on how much you have worked and how long you are not able to work. First year ill you get 80% of your wages. Second year 70%. Third year you need a specialist to give you a paper on your illness so you can get retired or increased sick leave. But most of the time you are thrown back to search for work.

It’s become a terrible harsh environment for ill ppl in Sweden. For example, They force ppl with terminal cancer to report “predicted day of death” or force them to go back to work, that is the only way you get money.

Mental illness that is not getting better, or handicap can make you retired. Then you get money every month. But it is not much. You can not pay your rent. You also need to get money from social services to pay for food and half your rent.

In the news lately there has been coverage about imposters posing as veterans. When prozac first came out, women I worked with were seeking scripts so they could, as they claimed they were told, loose weight. There is an article, Faking Attention Deficit Heperactivity Disorder, that states college students can receive advantages for being diagnosed with ADHD. Some fake it.

I hold the opinion supporters and caregivers would never allow mass suicides of those living with mental illnesses. The power and strength from caregivers is bond-tight. Look at caregivers of Alzheimer’s patients living at home. Those caregivers gross more unpaid income, as a whole, than a few corporations make in profits.

No. The majority do not fake it.

Why be abused and questioned by the government and the non mentally ill when you can have it done by a fellow mental illness sufferer?
