Tardive Dyskinesia Links/ Info

Since there have been a lot of questions about TD lately, I thought we should have a post with medical information about it. So, for those who suspect they may have tardive dyskinesia, those who would like to learn more about it just to be aware of the symptoms of it in order to be proactive, and those who know they have it, here are a few handy articles and videos. None are very long, and all are worth the read for those with a vested interest. Even if you do not have TD but take APs, you should learn the symptoms of TD. I did not know them and went over a year and a half with it before getting diagnosed after it progressed into my neck and shoulders.

This article is outdated (2004), so it doesn’t mention new treatments for TD, but it does a good job of explaining it.

This webpage offers several synopses on TD. They are a bit dated (2007), so they don’t mention newer treatments that have recently been approved for TD, but they are informative all the same.

Here is a website of people’s personal stories about their battles with TD.

This video shows a woman with tardive dyskinesia and her obvious struggle as she recounts her tale.

This video depicts the progression of tardive dyskinesia in a film (Robin Williams is in it!).

And finally, this video is a pretty straightforward description of how TD comes to occur in someone who takes APs or antiemetics.
