Tales from the Commonwealth (Otto the automaton.)

Right so I’ve been playing a lot of Fallout 4 still. I’ve been playing survival mode and I’m now finally getting ahead of the curve regarding being capable of having fun.

The hallmark of that is a power suit with a jet pack. Let’s me fly a couple stories up and make pretty good distance if I pulse the firing of the pack.

I also had built what was supposed to be the final rendition of my robotic companion.

Those two ideas didn’t mesh well together. I was jet packing about and my robot got respawned on a roof and apparently fell to his death. 3 or 4 hours of gathering fiber-optic equipment and it’s all wasted lol.

I’m legitimately sad over the little buggers death. He was doing his job well and the dark blue paint made him endearing to me.

It’s funny because at some point his older brother, the first Otto, suffered from some mysterious fate that led to his disappearance and death. I later found him and dragged him back to my base as he was small enough.

So it goes… have to work on the Mark IV.

The mark II I designated as a guardbot after overhauling him with upgrades out of need for more Sentrybots. My plan is one for every possible supply line and also one at every base manning the artillery cannon. That’s a long term endeavor to establish, but at least one of the prototypes is still in existence.

The corpses for player made robots never disappear… and are often too heavy to move. So I have a good nostalgic throw-back every time I run to Diamond City. Sad crap. I’m going to replace him before I can merely feel the charm it once existed.

Maybe I’ll make an Otto Mk III Ver. b… at some point… to let his legacy live on.
