Taking a mentally ill person as a peer support specialist to cancer treatment

As a peer support specialist part of my responsibilities is to transport our members to duc’s appointments. Today Im taking a gentleman to his radiation treatment. Considering he’a getting radiation he has a great attitude. Anyone else have to deal with a physical disorder as wel as a mental susirder?

I moved this from Creativity to School and Work category and fixed typos in the topic title.

I had a brain tumor when I was in high school. It sucked, because I wasn’t allowed to compete in cheerleading tournaments anymore. And I wasn’t allowed to drive for a few years. But I got loads of free stuff, including a college scholarship.

I also had a TBI a couple years ago, and I had to go to physical therapy to relearn how to walk and track moving objects. I had to go to speech therapy to regain the ability to read and concentrate on verbal input. I am not back to 100%, but I am close.

That’s gotta be a doosey. Having cancer and sz at the same time.

if I had a physical illness added onto my mental illness, I’d probably just give up. my physical strength is one of the only things I’m proud of.

I think I would get paranoid about the treatments. I already think I’m dying of all kinds of mysterious pseudo ailments. I can’t imagine what I would do if they actually told me I had one for real.

Oh man, can we do that for real? I so want to do that!!!
