Sz doesn't run in my family...over sensitive

I think my being so ultra sensitive caused my sz. It is not in my family…it hit me late onset at 35. The doctors ran an m r i of my brain to outcast the idea that I had a tumor…baffled them…do you have sz in your family?

My uncle (mother’s brother) was schizophrenic. His started when he served in World War II. He lived in a VA (Veterans Administration) hospital from WW II until 1968 when the VA let them all out. He died at 89 years old.
My first episode of psychosis occurred when I was 34.

I think I was extremely shy because my mother had no patience. I don’t really think she was all that shy, but she had schizophrenia and was also a target of people.

I’m the only one. Although mental illness runs in my family SZ does not. I blame it on my traumatic upbringing.

I’m the only known case in the family.

With that in mind, I seem to be faring better than many, maybe because my sz is not compounded by childhood trauma, who knows…

I had no idea there would be so many here being the only one in the family…my niece is showing deep signs of being mentally ill I think she is probably manic depressive but she stays on adderall and it affects the way she treats others…makes her argumentative…grudge holding…don’t know…right now she is working for her father and seems to be doing well all alone with just her father in her life.

Bi-polar runs rampant in my family, but I’m the only one with schizoaffective disorder.

My brother has HIV related psychosis. I think there were signs of something untoward a decade or so before that. Phone calls where his behaviour would change dramatically over the 10 minutes or so of the call. He was quite heavily into cannabis, and perhaps other substances. Both of us are at the comparatively mild end of the psychosis spectrum. There have been various possible signs of other, comparatively lesser ,mental illnesses among our ancestors.

I’m the only one with schizophrenia in the family. Bipolar runs through it

my mom has something like it. she’s been hospitalized but doesnt seem to need medicine. but she has taken it briefly before

My brother also has sz

I have a cousin who may have had it but no one in the family will say what her diagnosis was. She was hit by a truck while crossing the road and died so I can’t ask her.

On the other hand, she was severely addicted to alcohol and heroin so her issues could have been from that.

Otherwise, no one in my family has ever been diagnosed with any psychosis at all

I have 2 uncles that had short drug induced psychotic episodes, i think I had that too since my episode lasted only 3 days. They didn’t get help I did and got diagnosed schizophrenic

My father and great uncle have/had it

I hate that I was cursed with this disease. I’m the only one in my family with it.
