I first started having mood disturbances and visual disturbances and auditory hallucinations after having several surgeries. I was put out 4 times in a year and a half. After that things started for me. Has anyone else had similar experiences?
I’m afraid I’m not able to help you out here.
In fact I’ve never had a surgery in my lifetime.
You’re saying that the anesthesiology led to the psychiatric problems?
I don’t think it led to it as in caused it. I just wonder if it was in there all along and maybe was nudged along a bit. It was a high stress time in my life. Getting injured and going under the knife every few months. It was just when it all started.
I was prescribed codeine after surgery but I never took it as I was afraid of becoming addicted. The Dr originally tried to prescribe me morphine but I told him I want smth weaker.
When I was 12 I had my appendix taken out. I remember never feeling myself afterwards.
Surgery is a stress on your body and mind. Too much stress can trigger psychosis
I believe a major trauma while was in the Navy awakened my symptoms. I remember my first major hallucinations after that and it’s been a roller coaster since. It’s been about 17 years. I guess it really did a number.
And I said “awakened” my symptoms because I kinda feel like you… they were there all along, just dormant? That might be dumb, idk whatever
I don’t think that’s dumb at all. It’s how I feel.
