Survival guide for sz......please add

Just noticed it 1989?!?

I pretty much go by that guide for the most part…

only 2 things I don’t is ā€˜take your meds’ BUT I DO follow the recommendation of a psychiatrist and therapist who recommend do not take meds…

I don’t have a tin foil hat and do not believe in them…I do however have a Velostat hat…I have used it before to deflect alien mind rays, but it is tucked away in a drawer. I have learned to use the Force to combat any enemy rays beamed at me

You forgot one…

Hello radmedtech,

I would like to be completely self-reliant and independent also, as the thought of living completely alone in this world without anyone, seems too terrifying to even think of. Right now, I have my Mother, but I do not know for how long. I do not have anyone else to depend upon. Can you give me some tips on how exactly you became independent, and went back to working life, it will help me.

Thanks,

I feel like i’ve been through ten dunkirk landings, three tours of nam, i’m taking life easy, and thats how i like my women, oodles of tea, nicoteen nourishment, afghan hash would be nice, cos im easy, la la la la, easy like a sunday mornin, la la la la, ive got me six bags of sarcosine, i might try snorting it, mix pregnanolone and sarcosone, do a few lines

Hello darksith,

I really like your survival guide. Many tips in it I have also thought of to do, to help myself out of my illness, the problem is that I do not stick on with anything continuously. Hence, I feel I am stuck in this rut forever. Also, I would like to add an useful tip on helping Schizophrenic patients to have at least a quarter less troubles, they shoud take EPA Fish Oil Capsules also. I read this in an article about SZ illness recently. But I have not yet bought for myself as yet. The EPA content in the Fish Oil Capsules is supposed to really help. Pls do not take DHA content Fish Oil capsules, only EPA Fish Oil Capsules. I cannot post the link to this article now, as I am a new user. But I will later on.

Thanks,

the newly elected prime minister of the UK said in his inaugural speech, that even if you are a law abiding citizen were still going to break into your flat and nick all your stuff, dont give up your guns america

if you live in the UK, trust no one, loneliness really is your best friend

I just started having a razorblade in my pocket for protection, yesterday… feeling paranoid, or, feeling that everyone but me has some kind of protection on them…and I don’t wanna be unprotected…it sucks :S

@sudharao,

After finding Hope, I discovered Mindfulness. Which is an old Buddhist principle (that’s now being used in many other spiritualities and therapies).

An example of utilizing mindfulness would be, ā€œI feel great right now after taking a shower. I want to stay in this moment!ā€ Your mind will automatically start to come up with other positive activities to stay in the joy. Like taking a walk in the sun. Or organizing your clothes. Or just smiling for as long as your facial muscles can handle it lol.

The point is to latch on to happiness when it’s there, and then keep it flowing. It’s simply letting go. Not trying. Just BEING happy.

A happy mind is a healthy mind.

What I did next was use mindfulness to cut out unpleasant behaviors (like thinking I ā€œcouldn’tā€ do anything, or even entertaining paranoia). Simply by latching on to happiness so much that there wasn’t room for anything else.

In that level of happiness, you face fears. You have more confidence to try new things. You don’t care if you hit and miss a few times. And you find it impossible that you will be ill or alone for very much longer.

Just in the last 2 months, it’s enabled me to re-connect with 8 old friends whom I thought I’d lost before. And now I’m running an entire psychiatric treatment center–where we now have classes about mindfulness lol.

Here is a fabulous book I recommend. The techniques are pretty universal to any recovery process, I feel. You can google it and read some of it for free.

ā€œMindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Depression, 2nd editionā€ by Zindel Segal.

I really hope this helps!

Be Well,

Anthony

that sounds dangerous :frowning:

Yeah, I feel/think it is… Im still not sure if just paranio…but I’ve felt this a long time…And, because I don’t have access to weapons I feel that I must have something on me… I will never use it, and if confronted, I’d propably end up dead cous of my love for life compared to love of myself… and I don’t even know if a razorbalde (it’s a normal shaving razor, btw) wouldnt probaply even work as a weapon, lol …

Hello Anthony,

I really like your article on Mindfulness, I have in my 30 horrible years of mental suffering life, tried out various methods at improving me, many of them holistic, such as Pranic Healing ( I do not know if you have heard of that), Reiki, Shiatsu massage, etc (mentioning only a few), but none had lasting improvement effects. I cannot stick on to any regular improvements as I completely lack motivation, one day, I will be all fired up and rearing to go at improving my hell of a life, the next day like a dead lifeless zombie ( only difference is that I am still breathing). Hence, sadly, all the things I tried never had any real effects on me. But I am going to try and see if I can do this Mindfullness meditation which I have heard vastly of but never got around to trying it. Thanks really for your tip. I hope I can also improve myself to your worthwhile levels.

Hi Darksith,

I also have some more tips on survival with SZ. I am a die-hard Schizophrenic from last 30 plus years, off and on with various types of medications and different psychiatrists, with no improvements, in any areas of my life. The main problems with me is I cannot maintain any regular improvements, hence I have remained in square one from so long. I am very lonely too, as I do not have one single casual friend also, and the only person I get to talk or interact with is my Mother with whom I live. I do not do any online chatting also. But do not give up hopes, there are so many things even we serious sufferers can do to at least improve so many aspects of our lives. Only one should try to maintain them, otherwise they will not be so effective. You can eat healthily, avoid junk food, avoid alcohol, and cigarettes (which will all make you feel infinitely more worse), eat lots of fruits and veggies, exercise regularly, listen to a lot of good music (whichever turns you on, avoid sad and depressive songs), see humorous movies, read humorous books, (I mainly have a large collection of America’s Dagwood and Blondie comics, Dennis the Menace, Beetle Bailey and Hagar the Horrible, as these are some of the funniest in the world, and they are easier to concentrate upon rather than large novels, I sometimes laugh so much that my eyes get filled up with an ocean of tears), and I really feel so much better in mood after reading these wonderful comics, have some hobbies, such as paintings, etc, try to get into more and regular interaction with peoples, have a proper sleep schedule, maintain your personal hygiene. And I also am listening to an auditory Braintrainment type of meditation audio soundtracks, which helps to move ones stressed out brain into the delta and theta states (that of meditations states), it is called the Holosync Program. This is the link to it if you or anyone want to buy it and try it out: https://www.centerpointe.com/v2/, and I also am soon going to buy an item called as Q-Link which is supposed to really help anyone, in feeling both mental and physical well-being, and for other types of mental, body and even spiritual improvements also, this is the link to Q-Link product’s true testimonials and for buying it: http://www.qlinkproducts.com/Scripts/openExtra.asp?extra=119, I do not know if Q-Link will help out for my SZ mental disorders, but I am willing to buy it even if it is a little expensive. Also take EPA Fish Oil capsules daily, this is supposed to help with at least a quarter of lessening of SZ symptoms. Also, try to do some mind and brain improvement exercises and games which are available on the net, regularly, these will help in our minds getting more alert and sharper and may help for our SZ illnesses, and also for improved cognition. Try to do crossword puzzles also, at least some days. If you can, go for Cognitive Behaviour Therapy treaments also, these will really help. Even if you cannot do all these things on a daily basis, do some of these things for today, and some other things for the next day, remember variety is also important. All these tips should help you, I really hope you and anyone else who read this will try to follow at least some of these ideas which I have given here.
Best of Luck,

Meditation is an amazing part of mindfulness! One huge benefit is that it teaches us how to Focus our motivation and energy. So that we have enough for every single day of our lives.

I’m very proud of you for trying such smart and innovative techniques :sun_with_face:

Hello Anthony,

I got a doubt about the Mindfullness Meditation, how do you prolong that happy state of mental feeling for a longer period of time? Even when I have felt some happiness feelings, they have been very transient, that is they have always lasted for few minutes at the most, and then I fall back into my usual depressed condition again. With this severe SZ illness, how can I maintain that state of happiness feeling in my mind for longer periods of time? Anyway, I again thank you for your tip, I will try to practice it, but I am seriously doubtful, that with my 30 plus years of mental suffering, whether I can truly be able to practice it.

Thanks,

Self Talk=the most important thing we can do to better our lives.

90% of what we think and act upon is subconscious, which is out of our control. BUT we CAN purposely purify our conscious minds with new, positive self-talk, words of faith/inspiration, and meditation. We can use these tools to be happy in each and every situation. For example, I made it a habit to start smiling while I was suffering. It takes the power out of suffering by infusing happiness INTO it. If you dilute suffering with enough happiness, it’s no longer suffering!

I start with a few Power Thoughts every morning:

ā€œSomething great will happen to me, and through me, today!ā€
ā€œI’m an amazing person and an amazing friend.ā€
ā€œI love myself and I love all of humanity.ā€
ā€œI will be joyful every single day of my life!ā€

And remember, suffering cannot possibly last forever. There is recovery :sunny:

Blessings,

Anthony

Dear Anthony,

Will Mindfulness Meditation help for SZ patients, as it is written on the book you mentioned, it is for Depression and stress. Were you also a SZ patient before recovering so well from Mindfulness meditation, or were you only suffering from Depression?

Yours friendly,
30+ years Sufferer

Yes, I did suffer with very severe schizophrenia for almost 10 years. Along with anxiety, depression, and obsessive-compulsive symptoms.

Mindfulness, in addition to the right combination of antipsychotic medications, has enabled me to live completely symptom-free :sunny:
