I hate the phrase. It’s more often than not used by people who disagree with something in an unintelligent attempt to shut down/stifle debate.

I agree when it is used illegitimately. But when an actual straw man is argued against it is just as annoying.
Well, I haven’t heard of the concept in a long time. I had forgotten what it was, wonder if ever knew.
In brief though , from what I understand, its when you superimpose a stance over someones original argument and then argue or devalidate that stance instead of the original argument.
Calling it out seems like a proper move.
I could see how it’d be annoying if people fell back on calling everything a straw man argument. I’m going to go ahead and skip on it. I’ll just continue to say “You’re missing my point.”
