I have been diagnosed as schizophrenic, and a very common form of delusions come in false memories for me. What are some ways u keep your mind from forming these delusions? To stay in the moment and not wander?
I hope you have a psychiatrist? I guess you do since you have a diagnosis…keep taking your meds…if you are delusional you should tell your pdoc.
Welcome to the forum! I think only Antipsychotics keep you from having delusions. So make sure you take your meds.
I recovered from delusions over time. They were only a problem for my first two years with the disorder. I credit medication and time for the recovery. I still deal with voices and negative symptoms but have hope that the voice might also leave some day.
I do the same thing. I am taking a powerful antipsychotic which helps me a lot. But I have a hard time controlling false memories and ruminating about college. Fortunately college was over 25 years ago. It is ridiculous how I can romanticize it. It was cruel to me in actuality. I had no friends or boyfriend’s really in college.
@WillowWarrior
Nice to have you here! I hope you receive the support you are looking for. Meds stopped my delusions. Are you taking anything?
Yeah i am and its not nearly as bad as when i first started taking them but i still get them daily
How do you know if your memories are false?
I am taking my meds. I will tell my psych. Perhaps a med change is needed.
They have to do with mind control and other highly unlikely topics. Im sure some of the memories have real parts to them but my illness is twisting them. I do have memory issues due to a tbi
