Starting new med - Sycrest (asenapine)

MY pdoc was able to find me a med that is covered by my insurance, and most likely won’t give me fatigue. It’s a fairly new med, as far as I understood.
She wrote me a note with how to take it, and how to taper off of Latuda while slowly increasing the dose of Sycrest until I’m at 10mg, which is the therapeutic dose.

Does anyone have any experience with this med?

She said “This medicine is for people who have a life and would like to keep it that way. People who have jobs to attend to, and don’t want to be held back by fatigue”

And also, because I have a formal diagnosis, my insurance covers 100% of Seroquel, and I get a box with 60 pills in it.
Seeing as I no longer take it for sleep and only need it for prn, that means I have all the Seroquel I need for the foreseable future.
Sycrest I have to pay 25%, but a box will last me two months once I’m done upping my dose, and it’s only 38 Euros, so that’s not too bad I suppose.

I’ve never heard of that med, but I hope it works out for you. :slightly_smiling_face:

Saphris is what it is called in the US.

I read about Saphris (Asenapine) a couple of weeks ago. I will try it next psy apt for my severe negative symptoms as I read its the best ap for negative symptoms. Its a sublingual pill that you have to dissolve and not swallow. Some here said it doesn’t taste good.

My pdr thinks Abilify is best for negative symptoms but I read that its Asenapine. I have nothing to loose from trying it.

Why are you changing meds?

Because the one I was on isn’t available in the country I live in now.

First night with the new med passed. No nausea or anxiety, though I did have to pee a lot.

Did Asenapine help with negative and cognitive symptoms? Im asking my pdr about it in my upcoming apt soon.

Does it cause nausea or akathisia?

I was told it was a medicine that won’t worsen fatigue. I take it right before going to bed, so if there’s side effects I haven’t noticed them.

Does your insurance cover lumateperone?

Probably not, and it’s also not available in Greece yet
