Hey, Velociraptor,

Do you have any tips for me for looking for a job?

I’ve never worked for others as a photographer, only for myself. I didn’t enjoy it either, as it was all pics of people and that’s not where my interest lies. Not sure what to say to you other than you are obviously highly skilled at the craft. I’m sure you’ll be an asset to whoever hires you.

Bonne chance!

What kind of job are you looking for? Do you have a niche? Are you willing to be an assistant as you learn the business?

It all depends on what you want to do and photograph. In my very limited experience, events and portraits lead to the most stable income, so look there first.

Good luck! You got this!

I was thinking about portraiture too. That or wedding photography or photojournalism.

I’ll just see where my journey takes me!

At one point I want to open my own business and become a freelance photographer.

My ultimate goal is for getting my work in an art museum or working for National Geographic

I struggle with portraits. I’m okay with event photography, but it doesn’t really interest me. I hate photojournalism as the last thing a person involved in a tragedy needs is me poking my lens into their business. I’m a very private person and I automatically try to accord others the same privacy. I do like photographing landscapes, but that’s dime-a-dozen these days.

The only type of photography that truly interests me is art photography (of any genre, but especially street photography) but I’m willing to get a job in any of the fields because it’s still somewhat fun and would help develop my skills. However National Geographic sounds like tons of fun!

Good luck. My sister is a really good artist and photographer. But she has a day job doing graphic design

She specializes in urban photography. Lives in downtown Atlanta within walking distance of Martin Luther King Jr memorial and childhood home. She also has a studio apartment in NewYork City.

Her paintings are what got her into the Art Institute but she studied graphic arts.

That’s what pays the bills. She used to be self employed but a hotel chain offered her a boatload of money to do their graphics and web design

Her partner is a big wig with Johnson and Johnson. They both do really well.

But photography is her real passion. She doesn’t really paint anymore.

Good luck with your photography. And congratulations on the job.

I hope you find it rewarding.

I love low light and macro photography. Gave up my DSLR to pursue drinking the beer for a decade plus.

Looking to get back into nature photography.

Prayers you can have and may your DoF be blessed.
