SSRI induced apathy and lack of desire to do things?

I have learned that SSRI can cause such side effects. I never had such side effects before.

Im on max dose of escitalopram - 20mg, along with 37.5mg paroxetine

What med can fix such side effects ?

I thought they’re supposed to do the opposite?
Aren’t they antidepressants?

Yes SSRI can bring these as it can suppress dopamine activity. Dopamine is needed in required levels to have motivation, drive, energy etc.

I had the opposite effect from my lexapro. I take the triple the highest dose, I’m around 200mg daily and feel so much empathy and love towards my family that is frightening me. I think I should lower my dose!

I take escitalopram at 20 mg. Might answer the no motivation or putting things off.

i think
ur doctor should try different drug or so
you may get used to them

Yea im feeling apathy and laziness. I keep postponing the things i want to do

Reducing SSRI usage is the best solution if apathy is due to it. Also it can come from low thyroid function so checking to make sure its in optimal range is beneficial.

That’s a new one on me. I didn’t know that.

some people say the just feel numb and dont care on ssri’s. i had a good experience at first with zoloft where it completely diminished my suicidal thinking pretty quickly. then i had a day where i got super angry about something little and it came back in a way so i stopped it
