Spending a lot of time with a fantasy life is a form of neglect

It is such fun, I’m afraid we are spoiled.

I know I’m not really living. I can be honest about that. I feel too much guilt all the darned time to say it’s a fantasy, though. I apologize for the smallest, sometimes non-existent issues. I wish I could stop that.

Fantasy life helps to escape the harsh reality of real life. Its a good thing to have a bit of fantasy.

Thats why we let kids believe in santa :santa: :mx_claus:

I agree with you, @LevelJ1 It’s why I said, “a lot of time”. Great things have come out of the dreams of man.

As with everything else, I think it comes down to sustainability. If escapism contributes to a deterioration in quality of life that you’re trying to distract yourself from to begin with, then it’s a problem. But if it’s sustainable, then it’s fine.

Either way, anything to the tune of “wasting your potential” or “not living your life to the fullest” is a fallacy. I used to “have potential”. It was an unwanted and unnecessary burden. In some ways I’m still trying to unlearn it. It’s a work in progress.

All of life is escapism from the fact that none of it makes sense. There’s our senses, and there’s stories. Existence is stories.

We’re all dead but have different ways of kicking ourselves back into existence whenever we find the truth approaching.

No, to a certain level. Otherwise people don’t pickup coping skills.

When reality hits, it hits hard.
