Sure, talking about the aspect of ChatGPT that is linked to suicides you can also say television never caused a suicide but suicide rates have increased before when impressional, vulnerable people see news coverage of a particular suicide on TV which can result in copycat suicides. So, you can compare AI like ChatGPT to TV. And I’m sure you could link the invention of the internet to some suicides and computers too or the invention of the printing press.
Does anyone remember the “Satanic panic” in the 80s? Those were some very weird times and a lot of innocent people went to jail or had their lives ruined by the moral upper-crust. I remember having friends tell me that their parents didn’t want them to hang out with me anymore because I liked heavy metal and horror movies.

Seriously, though, headline culture is awful. Creates narratives that discourage thinking for oneself. Not to mention CNN running the same headline for two weeks as “BREAKING NEWS”.
And the Manhunt (PS2) copycat folks…. people started copying that game and went on a brutal rampage, in the north of England.
In America whenever someone kills people it’s generally because of guns being too easy to get. Video games are a popular scapegoat for the gun nuts though.
I’m still worried about the Zombie Apocalypse. Stock up on canned food and weapons before its too late, people!
