It’s something of a reflex action,on my part,to say ‘I’m sorry’ if something doesn’t go quite right. Then there’s the ‘thank youse’. I feel I have to say it for every little thing done for me.My (s) daughter says there’s no need.
I see nothing wrong with good manners but I’m sure your stepdaughter means it when she says there is no need.
I say thank you and sorry a lot. I mean it when I say it, but I think it makes me seem beneath others. Like I’m not an equal and then I get treated very badly
In Canada saying “I’m sorry” is kind of part of the culture, it’s almost a natural reflex. People say it to me all the time, and I say it too. The government passed official legislation that states saying “I’m sorry” does not constitute an admission of guilt because people say it so much.
Saying thank you when someone does something for you is just being polite, I do that too.
Lol I like that meme Headspark
I love Canada so much!
Over here, it’s kind of mixed bag. Some folks use it to be polite, some find it irritating.
Yeah, I love living here, but I really don’t have anything to compare it too. I’ve been to the US 3 times, twice to New York State and once to Cincinnati, Ohio. Other than that I’ve never been out of the country.
Where is “here”?
USA. I have been to Canada a lot cuz I grew up right over the border.
Canada is the best. It’s weird that so many live action Nickelodeon shows of my childhood were filmed in Canada with Canadian actors. You could tell because every now and then they’d say “about” or “out.”
I used to be the stereotypical Canadian and say “eh” at the end of a lot of things I said, but I’ve gotten out of the habit as I’ve gotten older, I don’t know why, it wasn’t intentional, but I don’t say “eh” nearly as much anymore
.
Lol true I also do That. My thinking is if i offended them then an apology is good. If not and i still say sorry, no harm done
I’m “old fashioned” in that respect. Actually, some of it IS respect. Say please, thank you, be friendly (which is reeeeealy tough) hold the door for a lady/the elderly, give up my bus seat for elderly/disabled, and so on. I’m by no means a pillar of morality, but if it’s within my power to help someone or perhaps brighten their day a little bit, I can’t see why not. Long ago, I used to walk around giving out candy canes at random during the holidays too.
