Sometimes-

I’d like to write more, or I think this is true, But I don’t write as well as most of you do, Overcoming this moment of self-conscious doubt, I grab pen and paper and see what comes out. Sometimes I’m inspired by the first thing I see. A word, or a bird perching high in a tree, As a background of grass does the wave in the breeze. Sometimes I think that it’s all so cliche, Don’t I have something important to say? The thought holds on briefly, but then fades away… Sometimes the page meets mellifluous ink, And then sometimes not, and that makes me think, I’ll check out the artwork and words you all write, I put down the pen and give up for the night, But then as I’m reading it crosses my mind, What more inspiration am I hoping to find? Erudite writings composed with great care, Ethereal words, lighter than air, Uplifting artworks that gifted hands share, It’s all there.

How old are you? And what have been your hobbies before this illness?

I don’t get your point!

I guess you’re not familiar with the reference.

Hey dude. I heard it somewhere that it’s better not to compare ourselves to other people. Different people are on different “timetables” or whatnot. What comes out from your pen and paper is absolutely you, and your words are you inalienably. The value of your words is yours to judge, or at least, it isn’t other people’s.

“Please take heart, find your soul
Read between the lines
Please take heart, play your role
Read between the lines”

From a 1986 song by The Fixx

The work you do has purpose beyond even what you are aware of. Just do it to be doing it and f*ck what you think other people think

Thanks Borath. I agree about not comparing one’s work to others. Thanks for your kind response and your generous estimation of my stuff.

My only point was to write. So I wrote a description of a writer who is a bit unsure about writing for whatever reason, who is looking for enough inspiration to coax something out. The inspired work of others inspired the writer to write this poem. Maybe a reader will be inspired to write despite being a bit unsure of themselves. Yay!
