Something positive

I’ve been trying really hard to get my finances in order. I have a lot of onesie/twosie little credit cards from merchants like the Gap and Fingerhut and they all charge like 29.95% interest or some sh*t like that. I have like eight of them all from $300 to $800 and they total about $4000. I’ve been trying to get a consolidation loan with a lower APR not to mention a lower monthly payment but my credit is poor because I have too much debt. So I’ve been scrimping and paying as much as I can so that I could improve my credit score. Finally I qualified. I just got the loan for less than half the interest rate, 13% APR and spread out over the next 3 years. I’m so proud of myself. I can cross something off my to do list finally. They are sending out the pay offs this morning. And another plus is they will automatically withdraw the payment form my bank account so that’s 8 less bills I have to pay online every month. YEAH! There’s even a little something left over from the $4000 to go into my bank account for spending money.

I’m happy you were able to consolidate. Can you also meet with a free debt counselor to discuss ways to lower/forgive some of your debt?

Good for you! I did this several years ago and it helped me so much. Way to go!

Sweet! I did something similar a year ago.

Maybe try transferring all your credit card debt to a card that has a 0% interest rate on balance transfers and 0% interest on purchases for a year or 18 months? Maybe it’s too late or your credit is not good enough.

Well done @Leaf . I came back to Australia with horrible credit because I let my ex wife do all the finances. I was always good till then but I defaulted on a credit card! It took me years but I finally got a payment plan in place and I paid off every dollar with all those horrendous charges. It was like a 5k card and I paid off like 8k!

I was so proud to pay all that debt off and hope you get there! It’s so worth it and your doing a great job!
