Someone broke into my Dads car overnight and took everything from the glove compartment

What is of value to a thief in a glove compartment. It was just a giant stack of car related documents and receipts, mostly outdated.

Some people just steal for a rush. They don’t even need what they’re taking

Some of the paperwork could be useful for identity theft.

Hopefully the Title wasn’t in the glovebox.

Can be easy to forge a Bill of Sale and all that fun stuff if they got ahold of it— basically a “na nana boo boo, it’s legally mine” if they ever came back for the car.

Probs unlikely but you never know these days, sadly.

In some states you can request a duplicate title at the DMV. Can make resale a little more difficult than normal, but overall is better than no title at all.

Sorry that happened to your pops and best of luck getting things sorted :+1:.

A chick cop showed up. Lots of tattoos. She was nice. Then a guy cop showed up to decide whether or not to file a report or case or whatever. They did.

When I lived in a bigger city my car got busted into too. Pricks.

I’d have no problem feeding a theif to a wood chipper.

Hope the cops nail them.

Could have been a desperate drug addict or something. Not jumping to any conclusions but idk who puts cash in their glovebox these days… Everything’s card or apple pay these days. Maybe he was looking for something to pawn

This summer we’ve had repeated break ins and mail theft from my neighborhood’s mailboxes. The police finally caught the thief but now he’s out on bail.

During that same time period, the neighborhood clubhouse has been broken in twice and stuff stolen. No sooner was the lock fixed and the stuff replaced then the thieves broke in again. These were different thieves than the mailbox thief based on security camera footage. They have not been identified or caught yet.

And this is in a gated community. :smirk:

Jeez!

Some people are lower than snake sh!t.

For anyone reading, never keep your title in your car. Always keep it somewhere in a safe place like maybe even a safe deposit box or somewhere that if thieves broke into your house they couldn’t find it. But never keep it in your car.
