Someone at my front door

Some guy with a clipboard and laptop rang my doorbell earlier today.
He said that he was from the Census Bureau and asked if I resided here at this address also.
I only opened the first door and talked to him through a second locked screened door.
I kind of became a bit paranoid because I was home alone with my elderly disabled Mom.
I dont like answering the door when someone is there.
He seemed harmless enough but in todays messed up world you never know.
I basically told the guy that I was not interested, so he left.

I did not let him into my house.
I think that I did the right thing.
He said that we are going to receive a letter in the mail.

I don’t trust ANYONE

I think the same thing happened to crimby, not too long ago.

odd stuff.

this reminds me of the time I woke up and found three young persons at the door.

it was soooooooooooooooo… er… uh… unexpected and awkward. so I pretended like I wasn’t home.

turns out they were, I think, nurse assistants checking up on me because I had missed a few appointments.

@crimby did the same thing happen to you recently?
I hope that my situation did not involve scammers.
I did not give him any info

Maybe just call the Census Bureau direct and ask them if they have people in your area taking a census. I’m sure they would like to know if someone is going around door to door impersonating a census worker. I don’t really know a lot about how the real Census works but I seem to remember they they only do it every 5 years or every ten years or something like that.
