Some pics, also flea markets

Here in eastern Finland we have many flea markets and other places where they sell old goods such as paintings, furniture etc. However, the situation has changed since the start of the war in Ukraine. Before we had many Russians buying goods at flea markets and elsewhere, but now many businesses have gone bankrupt in cities near the Russian border such as Imatra and Lappeenranta. Today’s Ukrainian refugees are not buying so much although one flea market sales woman told that also some Ukrainians buy because prices are so low. Here are a few pics.

We have a lot of flea markets and farmers markets and artisan markets here too. Its a lot of fun going around and finding homemade items or old furniture. We usually visit 2 a month.

I like to.watch vlogs on YouTube about daily life in other countries. I find it particularly interesting when vloggers post footage when they go thrifting in second hand stores or flea markets.

Lappeenranta near Russia is actually quite beautiful. I lived there for three years. I also had an official post of mathematics in the tech university while I still was a student. This was before I went to America in 1989. Here is one pic of Lappeenranta.
