Somatic psychotherapy

I’m seeing a guy next Friday who specializes in somatic psychotherapy. I’m pretty excited to try something new.

“Somatic psychotherapy is a treatment focusing on the body and how emotions appear within the body ,” Baker explains. “Somatic therapies posit that our body holds and expresses experiences and emotions, and traumatic events or unresolved emotional issues can become ‘trapped’ inside.”

Therapy really hasn’t been that big of a help for me in the past. I blame it on cognitive issues. I think wonky cognition makes it hard to integrate the things you learn in therapy.

Has anyone tried this or something similar?

It’s my first time hearing of such therapy.
Not sure it really delivers on its promise, but hey, a good massage is always welcome!

That sounds really compelling. I’d love to try something like that
