I was supposed to do something social today but I canceled last minute.
I get symptomatic when I socialize or am about to with sz and anxiety disorder.
I don’t want to socialize just because my therapist pressures me to do so. I feel like I need to listen to her but I just don’t want to socialize anymore. It is unbearably stressful to me.
I get paranoid about people. I don’t trust their intentions or anything they say or do. Plus voices are distracting to converse. And eventually I end up losing these friends in my life. I am anxious because when I went through losing past friendships like that, it wasn’t fun and now I have no confidence to socialize.
I understand that we are in the same place relevant because my last comrade got physical disabled and placed in an institution 12 years ago. So now I’m only chatting with you here on this place.
We both have a quite strange kind of lonlyness. You’ve been abandoned by friends and family just like mom and I. The reason that I lost them really just was that I decided not to pay their bills any more.
People that only value you because your fat bank account will soner or later let you down.
I wish I could stop therapy but the people in my life won’t allow it. They deem it necessary because they think all people with sz need therapy, even though that isn’t true. I wish therapy were more helpful.
@dreamer54 I am genuinely asking and not being a joker. But, is socializing a need? How is it a tool? Why do I need to and what are the benefits? I really don’t want to. I don’t feel good about it ever.
I think there are even more benefits, like refining your social skills by itself, etc.
But the more you avoid it, the more you will get bad at it.
It’s a tool, you need it to find and maintain work, a partner, a friendship, having more positive interaction with other people etc. It makes you happy.
It’s a necessity, especially in those suffering from mental illnesses, in the sense that our brains react well to positive social interaction. It brings you chemical happiness at least.
It’s one of the more important things that a psychologist may want you to do. You make their work really easy if you start socializing.
It also gives a different meaning to life, having people that you care and that care for you (to some extent) is a change.
