So scared of failing

IDK about universities but the community colleges I went to offered accommodations for disabled students. I was too proud to utilize them in the beginning but once I did it really helped near the end. It also helped that I was taking online classes and it was impossible for the other students to tell I was using accommodations and what accommodation I used.

The accommodation for my school was that I had double the time to take tests so on the midterm I got 180 minutes to take it instead of just 90 and on the final exam I got 240 minutes instead of just 120 minutes. I know they do this if you’re attending in person and another accommodation is they’ll let you take your tests by yourself in an empty classroom so you have peace and quiet and don’t get distracted by a crowded classroom.

When you go to college you may want to look up the office that deals with the disabled. It can be called the Disability Resource Center or Disabled Students Office or something like that. It’s usually located in a discreet area of campus and you just walk in and they’ll be someone at the front desk to help you apply and explain everything about it. The office at my school also let me register for classes there so I didn’t have to wait in any lines. I picked my classes and paid fees there.

When I went to nursing school the minimum pass grade was anything above 80 percent, that was passing, so in the beginning before I learned how to think like a nurse I bombed a few tests. I would have nightmares at night of failing. I’ve been out of school for 7 years and I still have dreams of failing school. I think school can be traumatizing. A lot of doctors I worked with had mental disorders and I would talk to a lot of residents about nuclear medicine because they didn’t know much about it and almost all of them were taking a pill for some mental health thing. Yeah, school can be stressful. What you’re feeling is normal.

Our school also offers a few different tutoring options. You could get intensive one on one tutoring or you could use the drop in zoom meetings to get help from a teacher or ex teacher for 20-30 minutes on certain days and different times. You could use them often as you like. I found that helped.

I just woke up from a dream where I almost failed the final. I got a C, a C+ and a B+ on my papers.
