So many people have not read great poetry

I find it all the time, and it makes me extremely sad.

I only read poems for homework,

but used to love song lyrics.

Does that count?

I can’t connect to it. Never have been able to.

I’ve done no systematic study of great poetry, but there are a few poems that really strike me - “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner” and “The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock” are a couple. I like a lot of the stuff Robert Frost has written.

I think the poem I have like the most is Kipling’s Gods of the Copybook Headings.

I love Rupi Kaur poetry.

I like fixed-form (fixed-verse) poetry, like Limericks and Haikus and such.

A dozen, a gross and a score
Plus three times the square root of four
Divided by seven
Plus five times eleven
Is nine squared and not a bit more.

(the math is correct)

I have read great poetry. I love poetry.
