I find it all the time, and it makes me extremely sad.
I only read poems for homework,
but used to love song lyrics.

I can’t connect to it. Never have been able to.
I’ve done no systematic study of great poetry, but there are a few poems that really strike me - “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner” and “The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock” are a couple. I like a lot of the stuff Robert Frost has written.
I think the poem I have like the most is Kipling’s Gods of the Copybook Headings.
I guess I’ve never read a lot of the greats, though some along the way. I mostly read unknowns
I love Rupi Kaur poetry.
I like fixed-form (fixed-verse) poetry, like Limericks and Haikus and such.
A dozen, a gross and a score
Plus three times the square root of four
Divided by seven
Plus five times eleven
Is nine squared and not a bit more.
