I went to Mcdonald’s today to order a apple pie and cherry pie for my mom and the guy never came to the speaker so I went up to the drive through window and told him I waited like 5 minutes or longer at the speaker and noone came to the speaker to take my order and he said to drive around to the my way lane and he will take my order then what the hell is the my way lane something new or is this guy being a smart ass I take this as a smart ass comment I should of told him to forget it I will go somewhere where they have manners and not smart ass replies but being too nice I went back through the drive through and placed my order thinking I should of said forget it wise guy but I do not like confrontation too much. What should I have done or I am just paranoid his comment was out of line or should I have gotten out of line and went somewhere else?
I think they really have a separate lane that’s right. But he should have taken your order once you were there
He said he doesn’t take orders from the window I would have to drive around and get back in line
So stupid! How frustrating that must have been
What do you expect from a teenage McDonald’s employee? They aren’t doctors.
Use the complaint function on their Website. Give the date and time. They’ll follow-up.
Also they definitely do take orders from the window. I do it all the time because I’m hard of hearing.
Yeah, @LED is right, I’ve sometimes absentmindedly went right past the speaker and accidentally went right to the window and they’ve taken my order still. I think that he was wrong and that if it’s a choice between taking your order at the window or having you drive all the way through again the employee should have taken your order. It was a little unreasonable to make you drive through twice. After all, it was their error, not yours. He was either just being a dick or maybe he didn’t know his job very well and he didn’t know any better. IDK, if you should have confronted him, if it was me, it would depend on how I was feeling at the moment. I might have just chalked it up to being one of “life’s” little indignities that happens to everybody now and then and not made a fuss. Or I might have wised off back.
Not nearly as bad as this one time I went to McDonald’s I tried placing my order and the employee kept saying “no” literally saying no to my face and I stood there for 5 mins and he still wouldnt take my order I know he was just messing around but it was really not cool
It usually works better for me to give others the benefit of the doubt in situations like these, where the stakes are low and getting upset would only ruin my own day. Like @77nick77 said, he could have been rude or he could have been clueless. I’m sure it was probably both. In any case, it doesn’t sound like he’s very good at his job, and even though it’s irritating, I wouldn’t take it personally. I’m saying these things as someone who has a problem with taking things personally, so it’s something I think a lot about.
I’m glad you ended up getting your food after all. I could totally see myself driving off in a huff and then ending up in an even fouler mood because I was still hungry and driving around looking for other food.
That is something you have to decide for yourself. Personally, I think the guy was out of line. I’m thinking that he was stressed out by a heavy business load, and he took it out on you. There is a number on their drinks where you can call in and give your opinion on matters like this. I can almost sympathize with the guy because fast food jobs are stressful. Still, part of the reason he gets his paycheck is to give customers courteous service. It is his responsibility to keep his attitude towards his customers positive. He should know better.
I didn’t let his attitude ruin my day but did let Mcdonald’s be aware online of this incident so it doesn’t happen to me or anyone else. again. He could of easily taken my order from the drive through window just to be courteous but no he said he couldn’t do that but I think he didn’t want to its not that he couldn’t. You run into all kinds of people but it seems like I always run into the jerks and nuts but their are good people out there just their sometimes hard to find or blend in. Anyhow I am moving on rant done and over with.
Former McDonald’s employee here. The My Way line is a real parking space that is out of the drive thru. Mcdonalds tracks the time from when a car enters the drive thru to when it leaves. If the average time per car goes above 90 seconds, the employees get screamed at and potentially fired. He was probably just panicked that his drive thru time got so high. By sending you to the My Way lane, he would have cleared your car and been able to help you personally and more attentively.
well better than a dumbass guy?
I haven’t heard of the my way lane thanks for explaining that to me. I just thought he was getting an attitude cause I never heard of such a lane. I still think he could of taken my order since I pulled up to the window I waited at the speaker and usually someone comes on rather quickly but not the case that day.
It probably came down to how bad his drive thru time already was. If I had one bad time I wouldn’t worry. If I had like 4 cars in a row, I would start sending them to the my way lane to clear my time.
I hate smart asses and those people that resort to sarcasm.
Think about it like this. If his drive thru time is supposed to be 90 seconds, and you just told him he didn’t notice a car for 4 minutes, he didn’t want to risk that 4 minutes becoming 5:30. That would have definitely gotten him in trouble. It sucks, but it is the fault of the corporation and the way they never train managers on how to manage. It isn’t the fault of the guy who might not make rent this month if he doesn’t make your car leave the drive thru.
