So I was over at my girlfriends today and we were laying next to one another napping, I started having this dream where I could see a skinny pale man at the bottom of this dark pair of steps, he was scratching and just- it was overall disturbing. I had a rope tied to my ankle and he was trying to pull me down there with him. Of course having nightmares is nothing new but there is this odd feeling that is unexplainable and when I was browsing the internet tonight to find somebody describe some thing similar they described it as feeling like they’re being “electrocuted”. So occasionally in my bad nightmares it’ll feel like I’m being doused in acid or being set on fire. It’s like that pins and needles sensation but it’s so intense it makes me wanna scream in pain and wake up but I can’t. I hear my breathing speed up and I just kinda sit and pray that my girlfriend realizes I’m having a nightmare and wakes me up but I’m pretty sure she was asleep too so, whatever. Lol I guess I came here to see if this is an SZ thing or something else? Does anyone else experience full body extreme burning pain in nightmares?
Visit ur pdoc as soon as possible…!!! Take care …!!!
Some medications can heighten nightmares and dreams. I’d never had sleep paralysis until I started olanzapine
@spiderpig You are the greatest
@anon20318121 well I dont like to boast
Ohhh I completely forgot to specify that I’m on no medication whatsoever. So it can’t be that, but I’m still wondering if anyone had anything similar.
I used to get sleep paralysis.
It usually is something restraining you,
The feeling you can’t breathe,
And being partially awake, unable to move or talk.
All my experiences have that in common.
Its just a weird half asleep state that kind of sucks,
That’s the only explanation I have.
When it happened to me, I was also unmediated,
Just a strange thing that happens sometimes.
I remember hearing that it happens because voluntary motor control cuts out during certain phases of sleep. If you regain consciousness before it’s reestablished, you experience sleep paralysis. I still get it and concentrate on waking up when it happens, it generally shortens the occurrence.
Me too,
All you can do is tell yourself you’re okay and its just sleep paralysis.
Still scary, but manageable.
You’re ok. I wouldn’t worry. I’ve never had, what you describe, happen to me, no. I think what you describe is within the realm of normal.
Thanks everyone, I guess from what it sounds like then it’s sleep paralysis. I’ll have to look into it more then. Lol
