Skin and Bones

As I notice my weight dropping and my pants getting looser due to the modest weight loss of my ketogenic diet I remember when I lost a ton of weight on a diet my voices suggested early on in the illness. I was drinking coca-cola which they called “cocaine” when they told me to stop eating sugar. Soon I feared I had diabetes. So I looked at an old book which said that refined sugar was bad for diabetes and fructose in fruit was good for diabetes. That later got me in trouble when high fructose corn syrup was invented but at the time I resolved to not eat anything sweet other than fruit. I even limited my bread to rye (it’s the only kind which doesn’t have sugar in it with the exception of the cocktail rye). The weight went off fast. Soon I was putting a new notch in my belt by cutting a hole in it so my pants would fit. I went from 230 to 170 in a matter of months. Of course I still ate things I avoid now like rice, pizza, and later sadly things with the hfcs in them. Of course I was young and more active so that helped the weight drop off more. Also I was not sleeping at all which normally causes weight gain but back then I would take walks rather than snack. I later went back on sugar when I started taking APs and I really wish I never did although I had family members committing that I was too thin and I admit to a degree that I was. It reminds me of the Foo Fighter’s song “Skin and Bones”.
