I’ve been sick, and took a four hour nap till 6:00pm. After waking, I go outside to let my dog pee and sirens start blaring. Ambulance or fire or both. It wouldn’t be strange but it happens all the time after a nap. I’d say it’s not cause me, but it’s happened a lot. It’s like pandemonium for a minute or two then everyone calms down. Does this happen to anyone else? It’s strange and instantly puts me in that paranoid state that I’m the center of attention or have influence that everyone says is impossible. What do you think?
You’re not influencing the fire trucks or the ambulances. They’re responding to fires and people in need of medical attention. There’s no way you are causing them to do anything. Even if they appeared every day for three weeks straight it has nothing to do with you.
Do you normally take naps and then wake up at 6pm?
They could be running drills or something around that time.
Whenever I go to the grocery store, the fire department is always there— there’s about 3-4 firefighters doing the daily shopping for the whole squad. I always go in the morning, and they’re also always there in the morning— but totally unrelated to me being there.
I think it might just be a coincidence. You’re good
I haven’t napped like this in a bit and I don’t have a specific nap schedule. It’s just something I’ve noticed happening a lot. It’s all good though. These are the kind of things that make me want to get off the meds. So maybe I’ll have a more normal way of interacting with the world. Makes me realize that meds can be frustrating. Im gonna stay in them though, but I just fantasize about it for a second. Im good though. Been stuck at home sick all week.
It’s just one of those times where I want answers you know. Like the world is hiding something. I know it exists though no one speaks of it.
Sorry to hear you’ve been sick for a bit— hopefully the naps have been helping you recover some
I wonder if you’ve maybe been under extra stress from being sick or something that’s making your symptoms flare…?
I think I read a while ago you were tired of your meds because they were getting you down— did you ever switch to something else? What do you take now?
Dunno about the world hiding anything, although I know that feeling and it’s not a good one when it hits (in my personal experience anyways). I think the world is actually a pretty straightforward place— sometimes we just overcomplicate and overestimate it. Keeping things simple helps, and also doing things you enjoy. Healthy distractions are good. Nature is always grounding, as well.
I hope you feel better soon
Do you live near a fire station? I do and I hear sirens fairly frequently because of that since they respond to medical emergencies, not just to fires.
Yeah, if you live near the fire department or a police station that would explain it. Or if you live on a big main street that the police and fire department go down a lot.
Yeah I ended up switching from perphenazine to zyprexa. It’s been good so far. Regained my interest in things and have been sleeping better. Hope it keeps working. I definitely keep things simple. I’ll complete one or two things a day tops. Most the time I’m relaxing. Gotta get back to day treatment next week.
I do live close to a fire station and in an area with a lot of disabled and elderly. It’s probably just a coincidence I guess.
Yeah, just tell yourself that when you start hearing all those sirens.
I was wondering this myself. That’s definitely why you’re hearing it often. For some reason things pick up at night for ambulances and fire trucks.
