Should I try and lower my dose?

Switched to abilify month and a half ago. My psychiatrist wanted me on 10mg. I insisted on 15mg.

Just went through a 2 day stint of no meds cause I felt super awful. Sometimes I feel like I should be tapering off and maybe that is why I feel horrible. Like I shouldn’t be on them at all. I also have tried lower doses though and it never goes well.

Is it worth the risk to try and lower? The risk of it backfiring then I have to go through all the trouble of raising it again?

Mine got lowered and now I notice i’m getting this wild shitty mood swings. It’s not my fault just something the pill had under control.

@SKYGAZER Yeah I want to be med free one day but honestly scared to try and reduce my dose is all.

Yeah I get that. Meds are helpful but will sometimes screw us too.

mood swings can be symptoms of the medicine reduction and passes. it shouldn’t come from the disease

It actually went away now. I wrote how I was feeling at the moment but now I feel better. At least I hope it stays that way.

My 2 cents is that if you struggle with taking medication and your doctor thinks that you will tolerate a lower dose then a dosage reduction really is a happier middle ground
