Should I be paranoid?

I don’t own a lawn mower. My neighbours cut my grass and told me they will do it this weekend. I told them I will pay them to do it and they agreed.

The reason why i’m a bit paranoid right now is because my grass is long and I read that criminals/burglars look for homes to break into that have tall grass. Im paranoid that someone is going to break into my house tonight and steal my stuff and maybe kill me and my grandma.

Its supposed to rain tomorrow so i might have to wait till Sunday for them to cut my grass. Its pretty long right now.

I think you’ll be fine and that you’re safe. :hugs:

It’s probably a mix of the sz and the anxiety that has you thinking these dark thoughts.

Unless if you live in a really bad ghetto you probably don’t have anything to worry about.

Take care, my friend.

sounds like paranoia to me friend…that shouldn’t be a factor if you turn on the porch light…you can always call 911.

Thanks Monte. I don’t live in a ghetto. Its probably my sz making me paranoid. I should be fine till it gets cut on Sunday.

I think a neighbor is unlikely to do that. I think you’re ok. Do you have a prn?

What? I didnt mean or say I thought my neighbours would do that. I said my nieghbours are supposed to cut my grass. My neighbours are the last people I would think would break into my house.

Oh. Sorry. I still don’t think anyone is going to rob you tonight.

I know the feeling though, all too well.

My suggestions are lock your door and windows, turn on the porch and garage lights, and get yourself preoccupied doing something that requires your focus to get your mind off it

They are always locked. Im scared of someone smashing them and breaking in

Lots of people have tall grass and yet are home. People looking for a home to break into will look for more signs that people are on vacation like piling up newspapers on the front porch, no activity around the house during daytime hours etc

Rare for a burglary to turn into a multiple homicide. More common in the USA with more guns. Extremely rare in Canada.

If someone is looking for long grass they are looking for empty house not murder victims.

It’s also worth noting that there are laws that went into place if you have EVER in your entire LIFETIME got arrested or went to jail it’s a lifelong gun ban here it used to be 5 years PLUS if you manage to pass the background check they have a device too check if your arrested then they will confiscate your guns

I think that is worth noting criminals can’t get guns here and handguns are illegal too there’s no longer a handgun license nobody can buy anything but hunting rifles and shotguns

I wouldn’t call 911 - that will add to your paranoia/anxiety.

I used to feel anxious cutting the grass but now I am on abilify I have come on heaps and bounds.

It is getting to winter now (at least in the UK) so cutting the grass won’t be such a problem in the future.

Damn man, I have disorganized sz, which is different to paranoid, though I have experienced paranoia, I think what you’re going through is that! Keep taking meds, let your pdoc know as soon as you can… if it continues , maybe go to ER
