Severe mental disconfort from nerve dysfunction from Paranoid Schizophrenia

I have this severe mental dis-comfort I would try to cope with by either walking around in circles or leaving my home to go somewhere. If I try to sit in one spot my mental discomfort becomes aggravated.

This mental discomfort greatly impairs my thinking capabilities and takes away my emotional sensory. I have been suffering from this condition ever since late November when I was at the Research Medical Center and I had an episode of auditory hallucinations from Paranoid Schizophrenia.

When I would try to sit or stand in one spot I feel this strong mental discomfort which makes me want to move and walk around. I also have these tremors in my body that causes my head to shake and my hands to quiver and my motor skills to malfunction.

What had happened was that when I was at the emergency room at the Research Medical Center, I experienced these auditory hallucinations in which they felt like they had altered my neurological function. I recall slowly opening my quivering hands in front of my face after the hallucinations have done some kind of alternation in my mind.

I suspect that my neurological system may be dysfunctional somehow.

Sounds like you’re experiencing agitation. It is often a side-effect of medication. And the tremors can be a side-effect too. I don’t think hallucinations can alter your neural functioning in an instant like you think happened to you. But symptoms can change pretty rapidly nonetheless. Have you talked with your doctor about these symptoms? I got agitation from Abilify and it was pretty horrible.

You don’t say what medications you’re on. All the typical AP’s do to me what they do to you, especially Haldol. I used to think the human body could suffer much more than the mind, but being on Haldol taught me different. Talk to your doctor about trying different med’s. There are too many to choose from for you to have to suffer like that.

If it is caused by medications then I would like to know what I should do to rid myself from this hellish mental discomfort which has been ongoing for two months. I have been taking Abilify, an atypical anti-psycotic I have been taking for about a week ago and I would like to know if I should dis-continue it

This “mental discomfort” is so severe that walking through the neighborhoods in which I live in, having social interactions, or even being around people whom I adore would do absolutley nothing to evoke my emotional sensory which is usually blunted by my mental discomfort.

I know that it is common for many people with schizophrenia to loose interests in these kinds of things but I cannot even sit down and relax in my mid-town home because of the excruciating discomfort I have been suffering from for at least two months.

You should ask your doctor. We can’t tell you if you should stop taking your medication. It could be very dangerous for you to stop taking them. And, of course, it’s not possible that Abilify caused issues that preceded your use of this medication. So maybe Abilify isn’t the problem. But this is really an issue that you need to bring up with your doctor. He/she can hopefully make the mental discomfort go away.

Definitely medication. I had this when i was on a higher dose. My parents always told me to stop pacing. If only they understood like you and I do.

Abilify did the same to me.

Don’t discontinue it without first talking to your pdoc!

I know how you feel. It’s what used to cause me to eat too much because it was like my head went on empty and needed to be filled up. Then I just got a stomach ache from eating too much …

What is usually done to help cure Akathesia? I was wanting to know exactly what remedies and nutritional supplementation is done to treat this disease because I may not make it to a health care practitioner soon and I am so desperate to try to find relief from my aiment

benzos…

What does that mean?

benzodiazepines

Is that is what is used to treat Akatheisa?

I’ve felt this way as a side effect from antipsychotic medications. And the feeling lingers for a very long time after discontinuing.

Does anyone know an effective way I can treat Akathisia through fasting, dietary changes and the use of “Holistic” remedies?

Like some of the others said, this sounds like akathisia, I had the same problem on several antipsychotics… there are drugs available to counter these side effects, such as procylidine, you should ask your doctor about this.
