Could nicotine be more of a cause of psychosis rather than a reaction to it?

I don’t think so.
It’s never caused any problems mentally for me. Withdrawal might have some effects on mood but that’s all I’ve heard about it
No direct cause @el_Jimbobbio
@el_Jimbobbio ,ever since I went to nicotine patches (3 months),I don’t have voices…
My old pdoc said that smoking affects the meds. She wanted to increase my dose, but thankfully she retired before she got to go through with that lol… anyways I’m not sure… I wish I could quit incase this is the case, but I haven’t noticed my meds not working yet… my old pdoc claimed that it changed your dopamine levels, which is the same thing the meds do… so her explanation was that they counteract each other… I’m a bit of a skeptic though
Some say that nicotinic acid in cigarettes, which strangely is a form of vitamin B3, offers benefits in the form of reducing positives. It could maybe explain why schizoprenics smoke more than others on average.
But ofcourse everyone is better off supplementing B3, rather than smoking cigarettes.
I doubt it.
You’re thinking THC probably.
