Seriously considering Abilify

My psychiatrist wants to take me off of Risperdal and wants me on a different antipsychotic because of my TD.
Over the years I’ve tried so many different APs but I’m seriously considering to raise my 2mg add on Abilify dose slowly and eventually come off of the risperdal altogether.

I was on higher doses of Abilify in the past and although it increased my anxiety it did keep me out of the hospital.

As far as antipsychotics go Abilify is relatively safe.

I see my psychiatrist soon and will be discussing it with her.

Abilify didn’t do much for my paranoia. Olanzapine helps my paranoia much better than Abilify.

Yeah the problem is that I find Abilify to be very activating but it beats continuing with lip, mouth twitches and hand movements

Plus the sexual side effects on Abilify were minimal

I enjoyed it while it worked for me. Great med, really.

I find it activating and helps with affective disorders

I don’t really get side effects from abilify anymore, but only take a tiny spec of a dose once every 4-6 months along side risperidone.

The abilify helps with risperidone side effects like weight gain and negatives.

I take 0.3mg (a spec) every 4 months, when I used to take 20mg, massive drop I know but I use it for anxiety and weight management.

Risperidone and abilify work well together

I may ask my pdoc to drop my Risperdal dose down to 2mg and raise my Abilify dose to 5mg

@Milly relax if you catch it within 3 months of it starting you’ll be fine my nurse practitioner just refused to change my meds for over a year so now I’m stuck with it but the pill controls it for the most part

Abilify is usually a low risk drug for TD @Twialine
I guess you were unlucky

@Wave I tend to be unlucky when it comes to my health

@Wave I’m sorry it sucks… Is yours permanent?

I’m not sure @Twialine
My psychiatrist said it was in the beginning stages

She wants me off of the Risperdal but if I do remain on Risperdal she will
add other TD meds like Austedo or Ingrezza

Is your TD permanent @Twialine?

I really liked ability, it gave me energy and lowered my low motivation. Unfortunately it was not effective for positive symptoms like delusions and voices so I had to come off.

Do you mean permanent?
