God grant me the courage
to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know
if it makes any difference.
I like that. You made my day.
It does make a difference, believe me.
Yes @77nick77, grant me your wisdom, or at least your optimism.
I wrote that tonight. I took my wife Madge in to the Emergency Room for the 6th time since Aug. 20th. She had a spontaneous unstoppable nosebleed so they packed her nose, an uncomfortable procedure requiring a two day headache before the packing can be removed. Of course they won’t give her any more pain pills than they gave her for the shingles that started two days before.
When things do not go the way I want them to I am no longer a good sport. I begin to feel quite bitter about life in general and spout off caustic and cynical comments about my fellow man. I do not have as much perspective as I did when I was 55 (my best year).
Granted Twang ! Of course you or your wife aren’t going to be happy about that! It’s normal. And I am certainly not optimistic all the time. I’m more of a cynic than I let on. I’m sorry your wife is in pain. Maybe it will take a few days for her to feel better.
