Selling my guitar now

Well, I am now selling my guitar to pay a few bills. I feel pretty lousy about it, but you have to do what you have to do. Anyone else done something like this before?

yeah plenty of times. I’ve had money in my life and I’ve had none! You really do appreciate it when you have none!

Yeah. A long, long time ago I had some extra money. I was working and collecting SSDI. I just had a lot of spare money. So I went to Sears to buy a tape player.one night I ended up buying a a $1000 stereo rack system that was on sale for $500. A little while later I bought a cassette player for my car plus new speakers.

I also went to Tower records and bought every Beatles studio album and a few other records too. But then I went to Reno, Nevada with my dad to gamble for three days. I lost $300 dollars and that ended my period of having extra money. I had no money for food so I sold my new records.

I had the stereo for about 4 years and then traded it for $75.00 worth of crack. Because along the way I had become addicted to crack. The car stereo was next. One night I was driving along with this guy who was dealing crack. I ran out of money so I sold him my new car tape deck. He gave me some crack and ripped my stereo out leaving wires dangling.

I used to have fabulous stringed instruments that I eventually “drank.” The axe I miss the most was a '79 Fender P Bass. Every guitar I owned was American-made, with a few from Japan. But it wasn’t just the alcohol. My religious delusions also drove me to sell certain instruments as “evil.” My dual diagnosis has been very costly. Now I have four made-in-China “firewood” basses. So don’t feel bad, @Happy_H. Fortunes have a way of running hot and cold and hot again.

We are low on money and currently borrowing some from my parents. We exchange Christmas presents with my family. This year we asked them for money since we are struggling. So we won’t be opening presents when they are, we’ll be saving up to pay rent.

That really sucks. :frowning: I feel for you. My husband broke his spine in 4 places and had to sell his scooter to pay the bills.

I’m sorry you’re having to borrow money @FlyingPurplePeopleMeeter. That can feel humiliating. I hope your situation changes soon.

I have come close to selling my guitar but have avoided it. We sold a bunch of electronics like our bluray and DVD players, the pvr, a few older game systems. Mostly I miss the pvr.

@FatMama
What’s a pvr?

Where you can stop a show or record a show to watch later

Oh ok thanks for explaining

I bundled up under a bunch of covers in the dead of winter bc I couldn’t buy heat fuel. I sent my baby to the babysitter

I may not have to sell it after all! My dad sent me some money for gas, and my church may help out. I’m saying a prayer that they will. I have to go to the doctor’s for my back, so I’m using some of Dad’s money to pay for that. I am going to return a skirt I bought for work (since I’m not going to work now), and that will take a few days but will eventually show up in the bank. Now we just have to figure out how to pay our car bill. I have half of the money saved for it. I need $120. Surely we can figure this out. I don’t want to sell it!

Happy-H, I will keep you in my thoughts. :pray:

I really hope you’re able to keep your guitar.

I would cry if I had to sell one of my axes. :guitar:
