Any security officers here? I’m coming up on a year doing it and I really like it. Thought I would share my YouTube channel I made about being a Security Officer. Enjoy!

I did security, mostly as a secondary weekend job, for well over 10 years. I’m not even sure how long but a long time.
That’s awesome!! What did you like/not like about it?
I love helping out in the community and making it a safer place to live.
I don’t like dealing with the aggressive drunks.
I mostly liked being able to do my own thing. For most of the years I was a security guard for a pay to park parking lot in an entertainment district on the weekends and it was most of time very relaxing and laid back work compared to my weekday job doing electrical work. In between making change for the customers and opening the gate I was pretty much free to do whatever I wanted. Listen to the radio, mess with my laptop, read, etc. So it was very laid back. I worked full time security before I got my electrical job though so they had me at a number of different sites before that. So I got a wide range of experiences in my security job. Worked a couple concerts and whatnot. Did security for colleges, etc.
And yes, aggressive drunks were a pain but most people were fine.
Just finished my interview with a security company. I thought it went well, I did my best.
Looking forward to possibly having a day shift and weekends off.
Night shift has plenty of alone time but it gets lonely.
I know I can’t worry about what isn’t in my control. I slipped on my tobacco cessation and bought some chewing tobacco. I’m addicted. I hope I can quit that too though, even if it’s just half the price (still ~$150/month!) of American Spirits, my go-to cigarette.
Have a nice day, guys. TTYL
Best of luck. I hope the interview pays off.
I did a stint for a marina in Panama City Beach, Florida…it was in college…laid back job…hard to stay awake at night…
