Scurvy is re-emerging due to modern diets and cost of living pressures,

I was actually wondering why I didn’t see more people with scurvy based on their diets

For instance, I have a friend who is extremely underweight because she is anorexic.

It’s so severe she needs inpatient care.

Yet, she doesn’t have scurvy.

I know others who eat nothing but junk food. Why don’t they have scurvy???

It’s very interesting to me.

Not surprised some ppl live on canned and microwave food. I agree with @LilyoftheValley

It’s fascinating how some ppl still don’t get scurvy but some do.

some canned foods are OK. for example pinapple. Without added sugar, or corn syrup. Fish mainly sardines, and salmon they keep there nutrition profile.

Several months ago I was diagnosed with scurvy but that is because I don’t digest properly anymore. It was miserable. The worst was the sores and gums as I had to increase my citrus intake as well as vitamin c supplements and it burned my mouth. I can see why it was such a miserable disease.

Talking of scurvy I have a craving for fresh fruit right now but my central heating is on right next to me. Not sure how to leave my bed.

I eat a lot of fresh fruit so i think I’ll be okay. My diet pretty much mainly consists of tons of veggies (steamed or boiled) with some meat (like steak ideally) sometimes with some rice or noodles. And a piece or two of fruit each day. If im still hungry I’ll have vegemite or peanut butter toast or maybe something really nice like nachos or enchiladas. Oh, and sometimes eggs, avacados and some spinach or something. I ate really bad up to a year ago. Too much fast food and junk food. But we cut that out almost completely. Weve both lost about 20 kilos since the change (me and my gf).
