Estimates of the heritability of schizophrenia
are around 80%.
About 85% are unemployed.
Outcomes for schizophrenia appear better in
the developing than the developed world.
Several times more (20 to 40%) attempt suicide
at least once.
Use of cigarettes is especially high in those
diagnosed with schizophrenia, with estimates
ranging from 80 to 90% being regular smokers.
Schizophrenia is a major cause of disability,
with active psychosis ranked as the third-most-
disabling condition after tetraplegia and
dementia.
It occurs 1.4 times more frequently in males.
Late adolescence and early adulthood are peak
periods for the onset.
Schizophrenia has been associated with a
higher rate of violent acts, but most appear to
be related to associated substance abuse.
(Removed from Wiki for some reason) There
are more single patients than patients in a
relationship. (Non-SZ people are more likely to
be in a relationship, especially in successful
relationships)
I’ve learned over the years that statistics are one thing but you’ll always find someone who is outside those parameters. It’s a serious disorder and it’s effects are profound. I think most apply to me as well but I try to punch above my weight.
The whole vaping health scare thing freeked me out so I stopped trying to switch to vaping. I’ve never heard of nicotine salts though, is that different from the flavored liquids? Thanks for the tip btw😀
Nic Salts have more effect and less side effect.
Vapes are 95% healthier than cigarettes.
Big vapes are less healthy than small ones and are more likely to explode under heat, e.g. in the sun or in a closed car. I use a small pen-like vape called Uwell Caliburn with 40mg watermelon Nic Salt.
Dude im trying this stuff called smoke away right now. its some herbal crap from an ad on instagram. anyway im doing it in combination with patches and gum and its working. I mean im still smoking, but like half or less. You should try it. Ive been smoking for like 15 years tried chantax like 8 years ago made me hear voices, this was before i was diagnosed which was four years ago. but anyway i tried quitting a few times most i succeeded was four months but was still smoking cigars daily. but with this stuff its like hindering my cravings so im much less dependent on the nicorette alternatives. pretty stokes. you gotta actually want to quit tho. idk i honestly love smoking but it grosses me out most of the time
