Schizophrenia and employment: How do you manage a schizophrenic employee?

I was a schizophrenic employee for a year, as a software developer. It was a nightmare and forever be an ugly stain on my consciousness.

My first full-time office employer was a professor in my university, whom I apparently somehow impressed with my performance. I had “freelance” experience prior too. My employer paid for my studies, found me a dwelling several hundred meters away from office, drove me and my luggage to the city where they were based, paid for my medical ensurance, arranged that I have a personal attendance charter, did not blame me for being late or absent for weeks and them months at a time, did not replace me for a year despite my continuous decline… All of his effort was wasted. Maybe if we all identified my problem as schizophrenia earlier, it would have been different. As it is, the generous employer wasted thousands of munnies.
