Scared from the dark at the age of 26

Hiiii. Im 26. It’s 20.07 pm here and my parents are on a way to go out and get back home after midnight. Im really scared from the dark. Does anyone else also experience this? It’s like a nightmare…

I’m not really afraid of the dark, but living in the country I can get nervous of what lurks there

Im only a little bit scared if the dark. For example one morning at 430 am google maps gave me directions through a wooded area to a place i was going. Said f it and walked around the woods. If it wasnt dark i would have gone through no problem.

I use a nightlight. It helps a bit.

Sometimes, when all the lights are out, I get the hallucination that I can see my bedroom. It’s like there’s a light in the back of my mind. :thinking: This is so annoying when I’m trying to sleep.

I’m the opposite. The evening up to about 11pm when I go to bed is my favourite time of day. I don’t mind the day time, just prefer the evening. Morning is the worst, I don’t like being woken up by the sunlight, I had to put a blanket over my drapes to stop the sun from coming in through my window, I like it dark until I am ready to get out of bed for the day.

A few months ago I replaced the couch in my basement with a bed. It’s more comfortable, more spacious and I can sleep down here without the sunlight waking me up. I’ve been much happier. It is much darker in the basement but I’ve come to really like it.

I have noticed I dont sleep as well when all the lights are off. Last night I tried different rooms/and eventually fell asleep thanks to ambien and a lamp.

I’m not as scared lately, it just makes me feel so alone. Alone, cold, in outer space. It is a bit horrifying.
