actually no thatll put the patient in a state of ketoacidosis, organ failure and death by coma. you need surrounding adipose on viscerals for function.
I dont know who mcdougall is but i can tell you from experience as a registered dietition that high fiber diets are really good for diabetics and borderline diabetics.
you really dont need to spoend money to buy that supplement tho. you could just get some metamucil or eat healthy
high fiber diets are also good for preventing colon cancer, which is what most obese people in america statistically die from if they outlive breaast and prostate cancer
An anecdote of someone who lived like that and managed to reverse his diabetes:

I start each day with hot or cold cereal and hashbrowns. Almost every day I eat hashbrowns. Does that sound like a diet to you? (The hashbrowns are probably oil-less.)
He eats to fullness, and probably isnāt counting calories. Fat free protein free.
Also look at the āPotato dietā, people basically eating unlimited potatoes and losing weight anyways, as long as they avoid fat and protein.
