I want an old fashioned flip phone again

That’s so expensive. Frustrating.

I think it is just a gimmick.:fox_face::fox_face:

A younger, new generation of foldable phone users born in the 2000s will be the fortunate recipients of this new technological future.

The target market for the Galaxy Fold are early adopters and those who have $$$ to spend.

Wow. I’m planning on getting the Samsung Galaxy Note 10. I dunno about the foldable phones. It sounds a bit too expensive.

They’ll never make enough profit that way. I bet the production costs aren’t even over 200 dollars.

I imagined a clear glass phone would succeed smart phones and it has. Reminds me of minority report.

im sure I would prolly never get it, but I would like to try it.

Wow it becomes all too much for my slow and jumbled schizophrenic mind!

I went back to a simpler phone.
I’m now using the iPhone 7 and am quite satisfied.

The XR was way too big and cumbersome for me.

I don’t think I would ever get this new foldable phone.
I don’t like using tablets.

I agree with @anon94176359, I’m starting to desire going back to an old fashion flip phone.

Nice thread @everhopeful!

I just want a slide + full smartphone combined. I miss physical keyboards on phones.

They still make Blackberrys with physical keyboards. :bear::bear::bear:

The smartphone market is vast with at least 3 billion android/iOS devices connected worldwide. Quarterly year shipments of smartphones are just below 400 million units.

Foldable Smartphones are a new market segment just as AirPods & SmartWatches were 3-5 years ago.

As for production costs, the materials such as bendable AMOLED display and the hinge would probably be the most expensive components of the device. Labour costs are most likely done by people and I’d guess manufacturing overhead would be high as well.

Smart phones have pretty much reached their peak. 4k screens and 4gb ram is sufficient. But still the new samsung phone looks really cool. If I could afford one, I’d buy it.

It looks like they’re already bringing out a sequel.

I dont like how he said its only good for 100s of thousands of folds. Pretty sure i would want it, with that technology to last about 10years worth of folding. At that rate these phones will burn out in like 2 years

I feel like this is some big experiment. They’re trying to see how much people are willing to spend on phones. Like bi-tch do you know how many boxes of corn pops I could buy with 2 grand?

Smartphones are a necessity for almost all human beings on this planet. The Galaxy Fold is a Luxury device as Samsung has stated which is why it is priced at $2000. Eventually all smrtphones will be foldable in the next 5-10 years as costs to manufacture the foldable display & hinge are lowered.
