Aretha Franklin was an extraordinary singer, but she was much more than that: she was a champion of civil rights. Time after time she took unpopular stands in advocating for the rights of black people without regard for record sales and record labels.

Aretha is gone, but her legacy will live on.

RIP, Aretha.

i wish she wasn’t so young, 76 is too young…she was one of my favorite r and b singers growing up…sad today.
