Religious people are giving me poison

Delusions of being “poisoned” are actually quite a common theme. Another common one is feeling as if you or your provisions have been contaminated in some way. I think this preoccupation with contamination and impurity is a result of our instincts being overexpressed. At one time in the history of human evolution it was very important for us to make sure whatever foods we were consuming were not contaminated or poisonous. Now that instinct expresses itself in a schizophrenic delusional thought process. This is just an idea I came up with, I have no way of defending or supporting it. For all I know these poison/contamination delusions may arise for no particular reason at all.

sounds like a good explanation,

if in the wild a poisonous fruit or mushroom etc was consumed the subject would get sick and avoid it in future, learning from mistakes, whether that has become instinct is up for debate,

i think it is instinct to be cautious and careful, we have a survival instinct which can be amplified when suffering from sz, also mixed with religious delusions or paranoia it may seem like you are being targeted but all of these things are symptoms and need to be controlled.

have you spoken to you doctor about this @Chess24 ?

I used to think that the VA was putting poison in the medications they were doling out to me. Sometimes I still think so. I try not to think about it.

And I am very religious and I am not giving you any poison, @Chess24. I don’t know anything about you. I don’t know your name, address, phone number, employer, school, church, pdoc, nothing. There’s no way I could poison you even if I wanted to, which I don’t.

its not the same gina, i don’t think religious people would poison people in fact its the rest of the population that i dont trust :confused: lol

I agree with you @daydreamer. Religious people USUALLY have a moral code, but not always. I’m just saying that if Jesus had been born in our time, he probably would have been written off as insane because he claimed to be God.

i get you, i don’t really like the term religious, when people talk about religion what is the first thing they think?

its probably not very nice thoughts, i wouldnt like to call myself a religious person the same way as i wouldnt like to call myself a sz person.

My religion is a good, comfort thing to me. It is not anything bad to me, therefore, I don’t mind calling myself “religious”.

its good for me, but i’d rather call myself Christian than religious, when i think of that word i feel like i am being compared and measured up and it puts my faith in with a remit of other religions and i wouldn’t like to compare my faith with others as this may cause bad feelings.

I see what you mean. There’s nothing wrong with that. I can’t mention exactly what denomination of Christian I belong to because this website bans it. I always get flagged when I mention my denomination. No other religion or denomination gets treated that way from this website.

its probably nothing personal, i try and not post about things like that as it may affect some people,

I am not intentionally trying to harm anyone but some people are predisposed to religion and find the topic triggering.
