I had my injection yesterday. In the lead up to it my concentration was pretty good. Could watch movies fine.
Woke up today and blam no concentration. Looked up the side effects and it says attention disturbances are conmon.
I refuse to take this med anymore. I will happily take another med, even another depot. But watching movies is very precious to me and I can’t tolerate anything that interferes with this.

How long does it take for the side effects to wear off?
Hope you feel better!
Last night I watched a documentary called Food Inc. It was good.

I get the injection every 3 weeks. The first two weeks my attention is just awful. Then it improves the last week but then I get the injection again.
Me and my doc agreed at our last meeting that in principal I could come off the depot. I haven’t been very social though so that might throw a spanner in the works.
Am stillnon high dose seroquel either way. I would be fine to increase this if needed. Or even add in another med.
But I want off the depixol

Clopixol destroyed my attention when I first started taking it. I had akathisia and I couldn’t concentrate or read anything. I also got acute dystonia which was bad.
In my opinion, all the injections are sort of horrible. I would just try taking Seroquel. I started out taking 400mg at night for 6 months, but due to akathisia it was causing me for 30 to 40 minutes each night I now take 300mg each evening. 100mg at 6pm, 100mg at 7pm and 100mg at 8pm. That way it doesn’t cause any akathisia. 600mg of Seroquel is a pretty large amount and the maximum approved dose each day is 800mg.
I think Seroquel is one of the best antipsychotics to take, because it doesn’t increase prolactin and it is supposed to have low EPS or movement disorder side effects, even though it did cause me some short lived akathisia each night. I specifically asked to take Seroquel when I stopped the Clopixol.

Yeah I was on a CTO in Australia and I had no choice but to get the injection. When the CTO ended I switched to the Seroquel. The Clopixol injection was the first antipsychotic I ever took and the Seroquel is the second one.
One thing is the side effects of the Seroquel could increase a bit if you stop the injection because the injection blocks a lot of the same receptors as Seroquel so when the injection is fully eliminated after a few months, you will be dealing with all the fluctuation of the Seroquel levels each day without the injection to level things out.
Also if you miss any doses of the Seroquel your mental state can start to get very bad, very quickly, because Seroquel is short acting and leaves the body very quickly.

However, I don’t think there is anything wrong with taking only Seroquel. Many people only take antipsychotic tablets and that’s it.

@Prophet do you take regular seroquel or the extended release.
Ps I also get akathisia from seroquel. I find taking gabapentin at the same time treats it really well.

I take regular Seroquel, not the extened release. I have always taken the regular immediate release Seroquel. I believe the extended release has an increased risk of akathisia, based on what I’ve researched.
I have considered taking Seroquel XR due to some of the side effects I have gotten, but I want to keep taking regular Seroquel. My psychiatrist also wants me to keep taking it for now.
