Real clothes are getting more expensive!

I was browsing after a real wool sweater and some cotton underwear, it’s going to be winter soon so I need comfortable warm clothes.

I was astonished over the fact that 100% wool sweaters cost several hundreds of $ and €.

The cheaper ones are filled with polyester and other synthetic materials. Some of them are sold for a lot of money. I guess they rip people off that don’t know any better. I don’t think that synthetic materials contain heat very well.

It’s a shame that things have developed in this direction. I guess people look blindly at the price instead of the quality.

I’m going to check Swedish eBay for real wool sweaters. I hope I find something.

Have you noticed that clothes contain plastic materials?

I have a jacket that is made out of recycled plastic.:slightly_smiling_face:

It’s an environmentally friendly jacket.

It is supposed to keep one warm but honestly I don’t think it can keep one warm enough in the really cold weather.
Definitely wouldn’t.

It’s good enough for this area though.

Apparently dog hair is ten times warmer than wool.
Amazing!
So a jumper knitted out of dog hair would be the warmest.
Maybe one could send dog hair to a professional to spin it in to yarn and then to another professional to knit it but that would cost a fortune and difficult to find these people.

Maybe you will find something on sale.

Are you talking about tradera?
I used to sell stuff on there and occasionally buy.

Maybe you can find a second hand one .

Sometimes it’s brand new or only worn once because someone bought the wrong size.

Be careful of wool sweaters they shrink like crazy if you wash them wrong. No hot water or dryer

Yes! I found a wool sweater on Tradera. I’m going to try to win it.

I think synthetic clothes have their place, e.g when it’s raining during the summer. But I don’t think that they make good winter clothes.

We used to have a thrift store in my town but they closed down.

Wool is very hygienic, wool doesn’t get dirty as easily as other materials.

But I get you, I washed a pair of wool socks and they look like baby socks now.

I have a Columbia jacket that is lined with the special foil material that reflects most of your body heat back at you. It is a super thin jacket that is so efficient at keeping me warm I have to be careful to open the vent panels so I don’t overheat and start sweating. I’ll take it over wool any day.

The catch is that Columbia is not a cheap brand.

You shouldn’t sweat when wearing winter clothes. In some parts of the world, it could be dangerous.

I have a Woolrich down filled jacket, it has kept me warm during winter.

I gave my mom a quiviet hat that cost $200 after i first moved to Alaska…it is made from musk ox wool that they take from brushing out the undercoats of musk oxen. It is thinner than sheep wool but ten times warmer. Unfortunately, it is a gift she rarely gets to use in Florida!

Do you still live there? I can imagine the nature being very beautiful.

Sounds like a great gift though.
N nicely made.

Yes, i live in Interior Alaska, it gets very cold here. The reason i spent so much money on the hat was because my mom has loved studying musk oxen since she was young. They became extinct in Alaska in the early 20th century but were reintroduced using Siberian herds around 1960.

Very precious then!

That’s awesome. I would love to visit Alaska.

My next trip I’m going to take is to northern Finland. The scenery there is amazing. I’m just trying to get my mom and aunt to join me.

That’s one good looking jacket. I like the phone pocket in the front.

I can’t put my phone there. Knocks out my pacemaker and I pass out.

Aaa, darn. I didn’t know you had a pacemaker.

I’ve had a rag wool sweater from Llbean for awhile. I never wear it cause it’s a little small. I wanna say I paid $89 or 99$ for it. Idk if they still sell it or how genuine it is. I’ll tell you though it’s kinda itchy.

I plan on ordering this blue waffle knit. I already own the multicolored one and it’s my favorite top piece. I love colder weather cause I get to wear stuff like this.
